Dear Resident,
The City of Kent, in coordination with the Fire Marshall's office and Kent Police Department, has evaluated parking on SE 225 Ct near 11700 block at the cul-de-sac and found that parking restrictions are needed. Kent City Code 13.01 requires a fire access route with a minimum unobstructed street width of 20 feet for emergency vehicles. In addition, Kent Design and Construction Standards Manual 6.2.G does not allow parking in the cul-de-sac. Therefore, parking restrictions are being proposed on the cul-de-sac including the island. Restricting parking in Kent requires a change to the City Code. We anticipate making the proposal to City Council in December.
We realize these proposed restrictions will create an additional burden on neighborhood parking, so we want to hear your feedback on this important issue. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me at 253-856-5571, email at RBrown@KentWA.gov, or fill out the quick three-question survey below.
Sincerely, Rob Brown, P.E. Transportation Engineering Manager
