The City conducted a traffic study on 109 Ave SE from SE 248 St to SE 256 St. The study found that the corridor met the minimum requirements to consider installing traffic calming devices.
The City held a meeting with your neighborhood to discuss possible traffic calming devices and locations. At that meeting, the participants supported using four speed cushions to reduce speeding and improve safety. Below is the proposed layout of traffic calming devices. The layout was developed from the input of your neighborhood at the meeting and is supported by the Fire Department, the Police Department, and the Kent School District. The final design will be traversable by public transit, school buses, and emergency vehicles.
PLEASE CAST YOUR VOTE on this concept by voting Yes or No on the Survey below by Thursday, March 26, 2026. The City requires a 33% ballot return rate, and 55% of the returned ballots must vote YES for the ballot to succeed, so your vote is crucial. The project will not go forward if we do not receive the required response or approval rate. If you have any questions, please contact EPreston@KentWA.gov or call 253-856-5596.
