Dear Resident,
The City of Kent, in coordination with Kent Police Department, has evaluated parking on 1 Ave S (Willis St to S 259 St) and found that parking restrictions are needed. Kent City Code 13.01 requires a fire access route with a minimum unobstructed street width of 20 feet for emergency vehicles.
Since 1 Ave S is mostly 22 feet wide parking restrictions are being proposed on both sides of 1 Ave S. Restricting parking in Kent requires a change to the City Code. We anticipate making the proposal to City Council in December.
We realize these proposed restrictions will create an additional burden on neighborhood parking, so we want to hear your feedback on this important issue.
